1949

Foundation of the forwarding company Hans Gerzymisch GmbH, by Hans Gerzymisch.


1949

Georg Königsmann (1st) founds a branch office for the Hans Gerzymisch GmbH in Bremen. Next to the classical freight service (coffee, tobacco, cotton) the company now starts to pack, receive and deliver household goods for U.S. GIs on military service in Germany. During the subsequent years, the company also starts to relocate the German Military to and from USA/Canada.

 
1974

Change of name from Hans Gerzymisch GmbH to ITO (International Transport Organization).

Foundation of ITO Möbeltransport GmbH, Ramstein.

 
1975

Foundation of ITO El Paso Inc. U.S.A. Consequently ITO is the first German logistics provider with a branch office in the United States.


1979

Georg Königsmann (1st) takes over all shares of the ITO-Group (Bremen, Kaiserslautern, and El Paso) from Hans Gerzymisch. The freight service is phased out and the exclusive specialization on relocation services begins.

 
1980

Foundation of ITO Möbeltransport GmbH, Cologne.


1980-1981

Construction of a new office and forwarders facility at the ITO headquarters in Bremen.


1984

Georg Königsmann (1st) dies surprisingly – the succession generation takes the company’s fate into their hands:

2005

Construction of a modern, computerized container warehouse in Bremen with the storage capacity of 250 x 20 ft. containers or 7.500 cubic meters.
